A co-design approach to machinery with intelligence

The Berkeley Intelligent Robot Design (BIRD) Center is an application-driven research center focused on robotic system machinery and intelligence co-design. Our specialty is in physically-interfacing or manipulation robotics, and generating functional benchtop prototypes of new enabling technologies and design tools. Relevant applications include assembly, inspection and maintenance, agriculture and reforestation, logistics and delivery, human centered robotics and wearables, and more.

By generating this community, we aim to generate cross-cutting discoveries that inform future robotics investments and train the next generation of design leaders.
